Knockfarrel Produce is run by Jo Hunt and Lorna Walker - our sons Finlay and Angus, are getting to that useful age, and help out too. But we couldn't do without our volunteers - some local and others international. Thanks to you all!
jo huntJo would like to see the end of capitalism, but until then, he's doing his bit to look after a small bit of the world and revive the local food economy.
Former economist turned farmer, he's a bit of a foodie and creates all our recipes. Jo's spent many years on food campaigning and small producer cooperation, and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. |
Lorna walkerLorna never expected to become a crofter, even though she has roots in Caithness and Benbecula. She splits her time between being a professional environmentalist and working on the croft.
She takes the lead on the farm animals, and has a particular interest in reducing the environmental impact of how we produce and market our food. |
volunteersEvery Wednesday is volunteer day on the croft. If you would like to join in, please send us an e-mail.
We also offer residential internships for aspiring food producers from any part of the world. Jo is a mentor on the New Farmer Programme, run by Nourish Scotland. |
